About the episode

Di and Nicola are joined in the studio by our very own executive producer of podcasts, Mandy Coolen. Mandy shares her story of how she got started in community radio and through persistence, worked her way into commercial radio and became an FM breakfast announcer, before recently moving into the world of podcasts. We have a laugh over Mandy’s stories of the early days in her career and the mistakes she made along the way.  Mandy is also passionate about charity work, having worked at a women’s shelter in between stints in radio and we talk about her upcoming dance for Stars of The Central Coast, raising money for the cancer council. The link to donate is below.  Mandy opens up about life after divorce, the rebellious path she was on after the breakdown of her marriage and what it’s been like falling in love again at 50. And you’ll want to hear us all have a chat and a laugh over what it means to be an ‘appropriate kisser’.  We also reminisce about life in the 80s, from panel van stories, to making mixed tapes and Jane Fonda workouts with leg warmers and all. Packed full of funny stories, we hope this week’s episode has you laughing as much as we were.  Donate to Mandy’s Cancer Council Fundraiser - Stars of The Central Coast  https://stars.cancercouncil.com.au/fundraisers/mandycoolen/stars-of-central-coast Follow Mandy @mandycoolen See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
