About the episode
Farmers right across Victoria have welcomed substantial rainfall over the weekend, after what was one of the driest autumn's on record. Doug James is a prime lamb producer from Boweya, west of Wangaratta, he received 27 millimetres over three days. And in the South West of the state, one farmer’s paddock turned green overnight, he too has welcomed the rainfall . Lamb and mutton exports have seen a spike, with both sitting well above the seasonal average for May and showing no sign of US President Donald Trump’s tariffs having an impact on volumes just yet. Global beef production is expected to decline for the rest of the year, with a 2 per cent reduction for 2025. BlazeAid has re-launched its "Give a Farmer a Break" campaign -- which supports farmers doing it tough. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
