It's been a huge three months in the meat processing sector, with lamb slaughter rates in particular up 12 per cent on last year. The National Farmers Federation has released a roadmap for reform, after what has been a rather tumultuous twelve months its struggle to retain, let alone attract new members. You'll hear from National Farmers Federation President, David Jochinke. Greater Hume Shire Council in southern New South Wales, near Albury, has passed a motion calling on the NSW Government to officially declare drought in the region. The Council is also urging the government to revise its drought declaration policy to include support measures such as water, fodder, and freight subsidies for farmers. It’s not just an extremely difficult time for farmers trying to navigate drought. It’s also tough for farmers’ service providers.
