About the episode

First up today we’ll head to Parliament House in Melbourne where Farmers are protesting for the third time in two months. This time, against the proposed legislation to change land access for transmission companies, allowing forceful entry for construction. Drought conditions continue in parts of Victoria's north east, particularly in the higher country around Mansfield. One of the largest beef cattle producers in the area has been feeding 2000 cattle since February at an estimated cost of more than $20 per head per week. To the other side of the state in south west Victoria, dairy farmer Jamie Vogels calculates the drought in the south west is costing him big bucks, only to have kangaroos eating his expensive fodder. Finding workers has long been a problem in agriculture. At the FutureAg Expo next week, there will be a panel discussion on building the future of Australia’s agricultural workforce.  Sheepvention is on again this Sunday the third and Monday the fourth of August. This year, the Let's Talk Foundation will be in attendance. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
