About the episode

Country Today is tripping around Victoria to see how much rain farmers have had in this most recent cold front. First we'll go to the grain belt, the Wimmera and talk to an agronomist there. Then we’ll head to Victoria's north east and hear from a Benalla sheep and beef farmer how is still feeding his livestock every day. To Gippsland where there hasn't been as much rain as they'd like. You’ll hear from a dairy farmer about how he’s had to changes his herd management. Victoria's shire councils have been laden with the task of collecting the controversial Emergency Service and Volunteer levy that saw thousand of farmers march on Parliament house in May. Now councils fear what will happen to their budgets if ratepayers refuse to pay the levy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
