About the episode
Greg Chappell joins The Big Deal for a fascinating discussion on the business of cricket, including the moments and decisions that changed the game forever. This extended interview is split over two episodes. Greg really needs no introduction to sports fans - he was an Australian captain who surpassed Sir Donald Bradman in his final Test to become Australia’s greatest run-scorer, finishing with 24 tons and 7110 runs at just under 54 average at a time when the West Indies were at their most fearsome. He also coached India and South Australia, he was a national selector and has played a prominent role as a commentator. Leader of some of Australia’s most glamorous teams during the 1970s and 80s, Greg talks about his start at Test level, the financial sacrifices players had to make, the birth of World Series Cricket and the sage words Sir Donald Bradman shared with him years later about the game’s revolution. He also recounts the pressure and trigger points that led to one of cricket’s greatest scandals, the underarm incident. Tune in to part 1 of the conversation and when you're ready, jump straight in to part 2.
