About the episode

Nikki Dryden is an Olympic swimmer, journalist and human rights lawyer who in late 2021, realised that the female athletes of Afghanistan were in grave danger. What happened next saved countless lives, brought into question the obligations of large sporting bodies and preserved the fundamental right of women to play sport.  You can read more about the escape of the female athletes and their families here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-23/afghanistan-female-athletes-find-refuge-in-australia/100398388 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-21/womens-sport-in-afghanistan-after-taliban-return/100392492 https://www.smh.com.au/sport/meet-the-women-who-escaped-the-taliban-and-now-play-for-melbourne-victory-20230608-p5deys.html   Hosts: Georgie Trickett Instagram: @beingsportish Website: www.sportish.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
