Sara Khan on Writing For Heartbreak High, Erotic Stories And Consenting To The Mental Toll Of Work

Sara Khan is a screen writer and proud Wailwan, Gomeroi, Pakistani woman with a strong background in story telling within a range of industries. Sara is currently developing her debut original series for television, supported by Screen Australia. For television, Sara wrote her first one hour of drama for PAPER DOLLS with Paramount+ (season 1, episode 6). Sara has also written an hour of drama for HEARTBREAK HIGH (season 2, episode 5), a half hour comedy episode for GOLD DIGGERS with the ABC, and a half hour drama episode for the highly acclaimed anthology series EROTIC STORIES with SBS (season 1, episode 7). Her EROTIC STORIES episode POWERFUL OWL, was selected for a worldwide premiere at SXSW Sydney . Alongside writing for television, Sara has previously worked across radio, museums, and education, focussing on platforming First Nations and people of colour’s voices.  As a Programs Officer at the Australian Museum, Sara ran tours that centred around dismantling false narratives of First Nations People.  Sara hosted and produced The Brekky Show on Koori Radio from 2019-2021. Tim Ross on Acting Career Longevity And Supporting A Family As A Creative

Tim Ross is an Australian actor whose career spans almost 20 years. Tim was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia. Shortly after graduating from high school, Tim accepted a coveted position at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), relocating to Melbourne and becoming a recipient of the school’s prestigious scholarship for demonstration of outstanding commitment to the course and graduating in 2007. During his time as a Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre ensemble member, Tim made his main stage debut for the Melbourne Theatre Company playing Laertes in Simon Phillip’s production of Hamlet, followed by the world premiere of Return to Earth. Tim then ventured into the world of screen with television credits including: Wonderland, Harrow, Underbelly, Informer 3838, Rush, Home and Away, Neighbours, The Code, Mrs Biggs, Rock Island Mysteries, and Dive Club.  Tim also played the leading roles in romantic comedies Hearts Down Under (Netflix/Hallmark Channel) and Romance At The Vineyard (Great American Family). Other feature film credits include: The Reef: Stalked, Bloody Hell, and most recently Ron Howard’s Eden, opposite Jude Law and Ana De Armas. Cut Short (2024) marks Tim’s directorial debut. He also continues to work as a mentor to emerging artists using his understanding of the industry in his work as a photographer and coach.
