About the episode

Sun Bum Presents... Steaming Heats with Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew has left paw prints through every facet of competitive surfing. As a freckle-faced Cooly gremlin he envisioned a future where surfing as a career was not only plausible but possible in his lifetime. Along with sparring partners Michael Peterson, Peter Townend, Mark Richards and Shaun Tomson, he played a key role in the formation of the World Tour, became World Champ in 1978, and following retirement coached Australian teams to glory, instigated the pro junior series and Indigenous events and took over as President of the Pro Surfing's governing body the ASP where he was instrumental in designing the Dream Tour. Today we dive into Rabs career to relive war stories from those rough and raw early days. His greatest rivals, his most famous wins and the ones that got away.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
